  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 beef patties
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 4 slices Emmental cheese
  • Lettuce
  • 4 gherkins
  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Salt & pepper
  • Blue cheese (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C/350 F/gas 4 in grill mode. Put a slice of Emmental cheese onto the lower half of each burger bun.
  2. Place in the oven until the cheese has melted.
  3. Thinly slice the onion and tomato. Shred a few lettuce leaves.
  4. To make the sauce, chop the gherkins and mix with the mayonnaise.
  5. Cook the patties to your taste in a hot, oiled frying pan.
  6. Toast the upper half of the burger bun in the oven and remove.
  7. To assemble your burger, place the pattie on the melted cheese and spread the mayonnaise sauce on the steak. Add one or two slices of tomato, some lettuce and some onion rings. Spread ketchup over the underside of the top half of the bun, close the burger and enjoy!
